The HandMay-d Crafts blog features the work of Rich and Sheila May. Enjoying retirement they both dabble in photography and love to travel. With a new grandson, many of their crafting endeavors are geared toward children.
Sheila is a genealogist who combines her family history endeavors with paper crafting, digital art and photography. Book arts have become her primary focus in the last year.
Rich is an avid woodworker and has been for over 40 years. He has built everything from harpsichords to sailboats. His furniture fills their home. Recently he has begun focusing on wood turning, specializing in inside/outside turning. Some of Rich’s turnings are for sale at the Miya Gallery in Weaverville, NC.
I would like a shotgun stock made of Claro walnut it would be gorgeous!

Your wood work is wonderful. Can only imagine what the furniture and sailboat look like. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Do you sell your bowls?
Thank you for the compliment. Currently none are for sale. Family has claimed all that I have made.
looking at those candlesticks, I’d love to see your sailboat!
Thanks for stopping by my blog, I’ m glad you liked my entry for the weekly photo challenge: let there be light. That’s a pretty cool photo up there on the top of your page, and the birds are cute too 😉
Your pictures are wonderful. Do you have any suggestions for a camera for a beginner photographer? Not too expensive, but with the ability to zoom in fairly close?
Many of the current point and shoots let you zoom in but for really good macrophotography you need a DSLR with a dedicated macro lens. Consider checking online at B&H photography and Adorama for refurbished equipment. I have bought refurbished lenses to save money and never have been disappointed.
Thank you!
And what is the theme for your blog? I love it!
My last name is May and we do crafts…started out as a way to post the crafts but I got hooked on the photography…my daughter in law set it up for me so I do not know all she did to the site…only that I love it.
